South Luangwa National Park
September 20-27, 2027- 5 SPOTS AVAILABLE

Tour Summary
Wild Africa. Exceptional Wildlife. Serious Photography.
Welcome to South Luangwa—one of Africa’s greatest wildlife destinations and a place legendary for its incredible concentration of leopards.
This expert-led photo adventure takes you into the wild heart of Zambia, where every game drive brings the possibility of an extraordinary encounter. Leopards moving through the woodland, lions on the hunt, elephants crossing the landscape, hippos gathering along the Luangwa River, and an incredible diversity of birds and wildlife make South Luangwa a photographer’s dream.
Our small-group expedition is designed specifically for wildlife photographers, with our days focused on finding great subjects, understanding animal behavior, working with the best available light, and putting ourselves in position to create exceptional images.
THE VALLEY OF THE LEOPARDS
South Luangwa has earned a worldwide reputation as the Valley of the Leopards, and for photographers, few African destinations offer such exciting opportunities to photograph these beautiful and elusive cats.
But leopards are only part of the story.
The Luangwa Valley supports an extraordinary variety of wildlife, including lions, elephants, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, wild dogs, numerous antelope species, and an impressive diversity of birdlife.
Every drive is different—and you never know what may be waiting around the next bend.
BUILT AROUND PHOTOGRAPHY
This is not a conventional safari with photography added to the itinerary. Photography is the reason we are here.
The expedition is personally led by professional wildlife photographers Hector Astorga & Calvin Kotze, with hands-on photographic instruction throughout the trip.
We’ll work on everything from camera settings and exposure to composition, changing light, anticipating wildlife behavior, photographing action, and creating more compelling environmental images.
Most importantly, we understand that great wildlife photography requires patience. When we find a great subject in great conditions, we want the flexibility to stay, observe, and wait for the moment.
SMALL GROUP. MORE OPPORTUNITIES.
Keeping our group small creates a much better photographic experience.
There is more room for equipment, better opportunities to position yourself for photographs, more individual instruction, and greater flexibility when wildlife encounters develop.
Our experienced local guides combine their knowledge of South Luangwa with our photographic approach, helping us search for wildlife while considering light, backgrounds, positioning, and behavior.

The Luangwa River winds through a landscape filled with wildlife. Elephants wander beneath towering trees, hippos fill the waterways, lions patrol the plains, and somewhere in the woodland, a leopard may be watching from the shadows.
For a wildlife photographer, this is what Africa is all about—the anticipation, the unpredictability, and the possibility that the next encounter could produce the photograph of the trip.
Join us in Zambia and experience the Valley of the Leopards through the eyes of a wildlife photographer.
